The Okmulgee Fire Department will be conducting fire hydrant testing starting May 16, 2022. We will begin testing starting on the north west side of town, working our way east. This will take a few weeks to complete. We will be testing around 30 per day, Monday through Thursday. We will not be testing on Fridays. This process may stir up debris in the lines and your water may temporarily be discolored. If you notice this, run your faucet for a few minutes and it should pass. We will run the water through the hydrant until it clears. We are going to try our best to work with our local business to keep from causing problems with their water systems. This is a critical process for the fire department. It allows us to have a reference to the amount of water a specific fire hydrant will provide for your firefighters to battle a fire. This allows us to better handle emergencies for the citizens of Okmulgee.
